How to install AntClick on a Windows PC
  1. Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition, the basis of Antville: Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html (you can safely choose the Java Runtime Environment JRE, the SDK is about 35MB)
  2. Install the downloaded File (if you're installing on Windows XP chances are that you receive an error saying "Kernel.exe - Application Error" which you can ignore by clicking 'OK')
  3. Download the latest version of AntClick from http://code.google.com/p/antville/downloads/list?can=4, choose the .zip version of it. AntClick file size is about 5 MB and it includes all you need (Web server, Database, Helma Object Publisher and the application Antville).
  4. Uncompress (unzip) AntClick to C:\antclick-1.0\. That's it, there is NO setup.exe.

Optional you can choose a different location on your harddisk, but be aware that NO space is allowed in the path to AntClick, e.g. 'C:\Program Files\antclick\' will NOT work because of the space between 'Program' and 'Files'.
  5. Start AntClick by double clicking
    C:\antclick-1.0\hop.bat
. An MS-DOS command line window will appear:
If you just see the window popping up and immediatly closing again you don't have the java executable in your path. Check your system preferences and make sure to add the correct path to 'java.exe' in the PATH environment variable.

Do not close this MS-DOS window. Closing it stops AntClick.
  6. Enter the URL
    http://localhost:8080/
in your web browser and you should get to the welcome screen of Antville. Continue with configuring your Antville server as described on this page (if the URL doesn't work, try to enter http://127.0.0.1:8080/).
